.... why Donna has decided to get involved ...
Like Sam I too have mad visions; I believe that anything is achievable if you put your mind to it. I have two children, work part time, am studying for my ACCA (Accountancy) qualification and am now training for 777.
I have previously been involved in various charity fundraising events, completed my first and only marathon (Brighton) last year and did the London to Brighton bike ride in 2009 and 2010 raising money for The British Heart Foundation.
I am not doing the full 7 marathons as I’m not sure I could cope with the mental strain of being on a treadmill for that long, I really admire Sam and Malcolm for what they are doing! About 18 months ago I decided that I wanted to do an Ironman, so this is what I will be doing for 777; my ultimate challenge. I will be will be swimming 2.4 miles locally then heading straight to the Leisure centre to cycle 112 miles followed by a marathon on a treadmill. I am hoping to complete this in less than 15 hours. If recovery goes well I will run a marathon on the last day too.
I have not yet met Ashton but have known a child who had Leukaemia and I cannot stress how vital CLIC Sargent’s work is. It truly is a very worthy cause. Henfield Leisure Centre is a big part of our community, and being a charity run organisation, needs all the support it can get to keep its great facilities running.
I believe that 777 fundraising has the potential to exceed the target of £21,000, and I will be here to support Sam and 777 in every and any way I can. One of my main aims is to get as many people involved as possible, be that by running a whole marathon or a few miles. If you think you can help, please contact one of us, we need all the support we can get. 777 BE A PART OF IT!!
