*STOP PRESS * STOP PRESS* ..... WE DID IT !!!
We would like to thank everyone that was involved in our marathon event - we will update this website shortly to let you all know how much we did actually raise .... its not too late to donate as you can still do this on line with the link above or by popping into the Henfield Leisure Centre.
Thank you for visiting our website and we thank you in advance for your support
We are a group of local people that want to make a difference by contributing how we can to support children with Cancer.
Our objective is to raise a minimum of 21,000 squids to be shared 70/30 with CLIC Sargent and Henfield Leisure centre (also a charity run organisation) by running 7 marathons in 7 days ... yes 49 marathons on 7 treadmills (hence the '777' theme). We are hoping to get celebrity involvment and you can get involved yourself as an individual running - or indeed jogging or walking - all 26 miles on one of the treadmills or get your friends involed by running or walking in a 'relay' to complete all the miles and get sponsored per mile.

..........Let us introduce ourselves and tell you why!

Ashton having a 'good day' :-)
Running to help children with Cancer
We have a committee of 7 volunteers, we are as follows:
Sam Bremner- who came up with the crazy idea and is running all 7 marathons - 1 each day!
Tracey Prescott - Sam's sister (who maybe isn't mad enough to do the running) is another of Ashtons Aunties and holds the charity very dear and will be involved throughout the whole process to make the week a success
Paul Newbatt - Henfield Leisure Centre Committee Member and has been involved in many local sports groups including a very successful girls football team at Henfield Football Club
Angelina Andrews- Self made business woman whose business and marketing skills will be invaluable - and will also be participating in the running.
Matt Chard - Personal trainer at Henfield Leisure centre - who will be very much involved in the fitness side of the week
Malcolm Lane - another running nut who will be running a marathon everyday as well
Martin Hayne - Ashtons Dad and Sam and Tracey's brother - who may even be running some of the miles himself
Sam Bremner and Malcolm Lane will each be running 7 marathons in 7 days in aid of CLIC Sargent and Henfield Leisure Centre in March 2012. This charity is close to Sam’s heart as her nephew Ashton who was only 4 years old (March 2010 )when he was diagnosed with leukaemia and is currently being treated at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton.
Funds Raised since Ashton's diagnosis in March 2010 to support CLIC Sargent and The Royal Marsden
Sam ran the Barnes Green half marathon for the first time in October 2010 to raise funds for CLIC Sargent and raised £1908.
Ashtons dad Martin plays rugby and has been playing for Egham Rugby club for many years (bit of a veteran now though ha ha). In August 2010 Martin and Ashtons mum Michelle organised a charity rugby match against Twickenham at Egham rugby club with a raffle, sponge throwing at the players and proceeds from the club bar raising just over £1,000 - the day then continued at the Forresters Arms in Egham with a BBQ, raffle, auction and casino night - resulting in the day raising over £5,000 for the Royal Marsden. As you can imagine Martin and Michelle were stunned at peoples generosity - not just in cash but in donations for the raffles and auction and in giving up time to help where they could.
Ashton’s mum and dad had this to say…."When we were first told that Ashton had Leukaemia, our world fell apart. We were shattered, and felt helpless and bewildered. We are both lucky to have very supportive families providing us with much needed emotional support, but when it came to how we would cope with an illness like Leukaemia, that's where CLIC Sargent stepped in. The support provided by CLIC Sargent, from the Play Nurses helping Ashton deal with his treatments, to the Social Workers helping us with the more practical elements was incredible. We cannot thank them enough."
Every day 10 families are told the devastating news that their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only charity offering them care and support, every step of the way.
